During each #journchat session I receive several inquiries on the “how to’s” of participating in a converation using a hashtag (or pound sign). Follow these easy screen shots for a basic understanding of hashtags and tracked conversations.
TIP: Click on the screen shots for full view.
Type in your tweet as you would any tweet. The only difference is that you add in the hashtag of #journchat somewhere in your tweet. (It doesn’t have to be at the end, although that is most common.)
To track all of the people participating in the conversation, use a tool like Twitter Search. Type in the word “journchat” (you don’t need to type in the # if you want to see comments from the @Journchat moderator, too.)
You’ll need to refresh the Twitter Search page frequently to stay current on the conversation. Each #journchat session averages around 2,000 tweets (or more).
If you would like to follow the conversation in other ways, check out TweetChat (which is what I use) or TweetGrid. Both are great applications.
This a quick introduction to using hashtags, such as #journchat on Twitter. Jump in and be part of the ongoing conversation.
